Originally developed in the 1930's by Yorkshire-based chemist Fred Mitchell, Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap is still manufactured using the same recipe that was discovered by accident over a century ago. Yorkshire was best known for its association with the wool industry, and as such had a large population of wool sorters and sheep shearers. Fred Mitchell noticed the effect that natural lanolin found in sheep's wool was having the hands of the sorters and shearers and developed a soap bar to share the qualities with non-wool related individuals. The result is a super-nourishing soap bar that is excellent for dry and sensitive skin types.
